On December 14, Steve Baker, a journalist from North Carolina who is now affiliated with Blaze Media, reported that he is facing charges by the FBI because he entered the Capitol on January 6. He was not violent, did not damage any property, but was there solely as a journalist who wanted to add to the record of that day’s occurrences. Baker has watched the justice department come after hundreds of people since then, and was well aware that he could be charged at some point. The FBI had contacted him in 2021 and threatened charges, but nothing happened until a few days ago. He states in the article linked below,
"The truth is, my life hasn’t been destroyed. Yet. But many others have been. I intend to show through my investigations that many lives have been destroyed for no good reason — and that cannot stand."
I’m not sure why this news report affected me so deeply. Because Baker is from my home state, so it seems more personal? That’s part of it, but mainly I think it is absolutely chilling that still today, nearly three years since January 6 (and four years since the release of the covid virus) censorship is continuing to the point that the Biden administration, the Justice Department, the deep state (take your pick) feel the need to make an example of Steve Baker. Our constitutionally guaranteed free press is being attacked daily.
Steve Baker mentioned that “many lives have been destroyed for no good reason.” One of those was that of Matthew Perna, a 37 year old man who killed himself after months of harassment and threats from the Justice Department. Matthew’s aunt, Geri Perna, described Matthew as a gentle man who had never been in any kind of trouble. She tells his story here: https://twitter.com/i/status/1702336405547233479
Matthew is not the only January 6 defendant to commit suicide; there were at least two more. Interestingly, several Capitol police officers also committed suicide afterward. Were they unable to live with themselves due to what they knew about a possible government set-up to encourage riots that day? Were they considering being whistle blowers? A September 12, 2023 article in Newsweek stated that 378 people have been sentenced to periods of incarceration and “more than 1,146 people hailing from all 50 states and the capital have been charged with a variety of alleged offenses in relation to their presence at the grounds of Congress that day.” That’s a lot of ruined lives. We need to know the full story about what happened that day. https://www.newsweek.com/full-list-capitol-rioters-jailed-sentences-january-6-1826075
In addition to January 6, there has been a massive effort to censor facts about covid and the so-called vaccines. Andrew Huff is a whistle blower who exposed EcoHealth Alliance and the origins of the covid virus and was relentlessly attacked by his own government afterward. He details these egregious attacks in his book, The Truth About Wuhan: How I Uncovered the Biggest Lie in History. In truth, I now believe that any of us who post unapproved things on social media, attend peaceable protests, or refuse vaccinations might pay the price later. What has become of our free country?
Regarding Steve Baker, Matthew Peterson of Blaze Media wrote this in an opinion piece: “I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that Baker learned of his coming indictment the very same day he met with a pair of Capitol Police whistleblowers. Nor do I believe it’s a coincidence that the Justice Department decided to press ahead as Baker has spent more than a week viewing hundreds of hours of Capitol closed-circuit TV video and unearthing previously undisclosed details about the events of January 6.
This has gone on long enough. Too long, in fact. (My emphasis) Merrick Garland’s Justice Department is not doing justice. Christopher Wray’s FBI is not pursuing justice. They are dealing in political retribution. With the indictment of Steve Baker, it’s a fact too obvious to ignore.”

As a follower of Christ, I feel that I am duty bound to try and expose these wrongs and to pray for those who are suffering.
Ephesians 5:11 tells me, “Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
Matthew 10:28 exhorts me, “Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Philippians 1:21 assures me that I am in a win win situation. “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
It is vitally important that we stand together and refuse to comply. We must speak up.
